John 16:33

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world."

I never had a favorite scripture growing up. I got asked a LOT ( almost every Sunday ) what scriptures "spoke" to me... which ones I liked. But I always gave a Sunday School answer and blurted out whatever scripture came to mind in that moment. It wasn't until 2016 that I found it. Every Sunday, I share a scripture or spiritual quote of some kind on my social media accounts. As you can imagine, they are wildly popular. Enter Sarcasm.

These posts aren't for likes however, they are for me. So whether they're a home run or a big old fail, it doesn't really matter to me. I was reading through some scriptures by topic, as per usual, and came across this beautiful verse. "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world"

At the time, I was struggling with some serious inner turmoil. Anger had consumed my soul and I just needed confirmation that what I was experiencing would pass. That I would feel peace again. This scripture came at a time where the world was overcoming me. I cannot express to you, the comfort that filled my soul when I soaked up this verse. Immediately I knew that God was speaking to me. He was telling me, "JACE... relax. I got you. Anything you are feeling, I have felt. Not only have I felt it, I have overcome it" My faith grew ten sizes that day. Like the Grinch on Christmas an immediate rush of love, warmth and peace fell upon me. That word, "overcome" gained new meaning. It brought me strength. It brought me hope. I know, that no matter how hard life gets, no matter how real the struggle is, if God was able to overcome this world, then I can too. Keep pursuing peace. Keep pursuing strength. Whatever trial you face, remember that you are never alone and there IS someone who gets you, whose GOT you and who has overcome what you are going through.
